Mentorship Program
The IAJG Jungle Guide Mentorship Program provides aspiring guides with firsthand experience and invaluable mentorship opportunities alongside seasoned jungle professionals, along with an alternative non-traditional route to becoming certified similar to an apprenticeship program.
Whether you're looking to "learn the ropes," build practical guiding skills, or gain insight into expedition leadership, this initiative pairs you directly with certified jungle professionals. Participation in the program is voluntary, offering unmatched experiential learning and networking opportunities.
While there are no fees charged by IAJG for this mentorship, participants are responsible for covering their own expedition-related expenses. Experience expedition life up close, build practical expertise, and cultivate relationships that propel your professional journey forward. Through mentorship, shadowing opportunities, and hands-on participation, you'll gain the confidence, knowledge, and connections needed to thrive as a professional jungle guide.
Eligibility: This program is available to IAJG certified guides.
Non-certified aspiring guides can also join the mentorship program, but must first complete the IAJG Assistant Jungle Guide course to ensure base knowledge prior to joining an expedition.
Certification: Aspiring guides can gain certification through this program as Certified Jungle Guides without taking a Jungle Guide Certification Field Course. Instead, certification is granted at the discretion of your mentor(s), in conversation with the Association. To be eligible for certification, candidates must first qualify as an Assistant Jungle Guide.
